Born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, Stephanie Whitfield developed an interest in photography in the mid-1970s when her grandfather gave her a hand-me-down Polaroid Land Camera. After moving to Texas for a number of years, Stephanie returned to Tallahassee to work as a graphic artist, photographer, and videographer. In 2007, Stephanie returned to school and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Art from Thomas University. In 2008, she was awarded the President's Award and debuted her controversial series, The Cult of Domesticity.
Most recently, Stephanie exhibited in the Thomasville Cultural Center Regional Summer Showcase where she received the Award of Merit for her work entitled "In the Nursery." She has also just completed two solo shows and is currently exhibiting at the 1020 Gallery in Tallahassee.
Stephanie lives in Tallahassee, Florida with her husband and two children.
