Through the ancient art of Chinese Brush Painting, I attempt to express the simple beauty of nature using a complex interplay of precise discipline and open hearted spontaneity. The passion I feel for this artistic process feeds in me a desire to pursue ongoing levels of technical and spiritual mastery. It is my desire to entertain, refresh, and inspire joy in viewers as they travel the visual and emotional path through my paintings.

The techniques I use have been consistently taught for thousands of years, from developing the composition, to preparing the organically based colors, to perfecting the spontaneous single strokes of Chinese brushes on rice paper. While brush painters may create beautiful lines and forms, the message and meaning of the painting must transcend form, emerging from the heart of the artist. It is this aspect of my work that I find most deeply satisfying.
