My work over the past two years has documented my personal observations and concerns about our society as well as observations of communal behavior.

My work deals with contradictions of form and material. These often take the organic forms of plants and animals created with synthetic materials such as rubbers and plastics.

These are then constructed in an industrial repetitious fashion. These contradictions are reminiscent of a childhood spent working on farms and in factories.

Russell is originally from Lexington, Kentucky. He attended Georgetown College where he began to study Fine Arts. He received his MFA with a focus on sculpture from University of Cincinnati in 2005. Since his graduation his work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Russell presently also teaches sculpture at Valdosta State University and lives in Monticello, Fl.
